We are a dedication to the African Diaspora, serving as a bridge of knowledge and connection.
At Adinkra Charms, we honor the depth of African heritage and the sacred essence encoded within Adinkra symbols.
Our curated collection of women’s jewelry and accessories is a living tribute to cultural legacy—each piece handcrafted with intention, carrying the timeless wisdom passed down through generations. From finely detailed pendant necklaces to powerful charm bracelets, every design is a vessel of tradition, beauty, and abundance.
These are more than adornments. They are tangible links to our ancestors—symbolic reminders that tradition lives on in what we wear, how we heal, and who we choose to become.

“Imagine being a little girl in class at five years old, being told your history began with slavery. Imagine hearing that—over and over—for the next twelve years.”
Founded by Nakia Duncan, a visionary designer and architectural professional, Adinkra Charms was born as a reclamation—a powerful response to historical erasure. What began as a personal awakening is now a sacred mission to reconnect the African diaspora with its true legacy.
As both founder and lead designer, Nakia brings a rare fusion of artistry, ancestral reverence, and architectural precision to each piece she creates. Her background in design gives her a deep understanding of form, balance, and symbolism—making every creation not just beautiful, but meaningful.
As a mother of two young girls, Nakia is fueled by the desire to ensure that her children—and children everywhere—grow up knowing that their story didn’t begin in bondage, but in brilliance. Through Adinkra Charms, she invites each of us to reclaim that story, to wear our truth, and to activate the power of remembrance—one symbol at a time.
Adinkra symbols silently journeyed across the Atlantic, carried in memory, spirit, and craft.
Through the transatlantic slave trade, these sacred symbols found quiet refuge in the art, ironwork, textiles, and cultural expressions of the African diaspora—subtly shaping our creative legacy across generations.
Though many of us were not physically born in Africa, our lineage carries its pulse. Its rhythm lives in us.
Adinkra Charms honors this inheritance—reminding us that even in displacement, our roots remain. Reconnection is our birthright.
